This article was published in the Fall 2024 Edition of Everyday Kitsap that I received in my mailbox.
The last sentence, “you can make a real difference in protecting and ensuring they continue to thrive” stood out to me.
This brought in the idea of protecting the new ideas and the people that bring in those new ideas so that they can thrive. Not all ideas will make it to the implementation stage, but the idea generation and cross-pollination leads to creativity and innovation. It is important that they are able to thrive in their environment versus get swatted away or squashed as a result of someone not liking the idea.
I have experienced where change is not treated as a valued commodity and so the pollinators were not really supported in pollinating the organization with the new ideas, new strategies, or new changes to old outdated processes. Organizations do need to have processes that are stable and efficient, however they are not meant to stay stagnant and the same for all of eternity. Pollinators have an important role for the organization and will bring tremendous strengths if allowed to thrive.
Comment: Awesome. Yes, protect the cycle of life or our garden and our people who do the same with ideas and values! Plus in imagining the 3DR Handbook in the garden theme, I’m noting that I enjoyed reading the above content written on top of flowers fitting the subject. These graphics worked well for me. Comment: This brings to mind what an asset pollination is within the community of those holding and working with the new ideas. (Fairin added this comment)
